GLS support in Peteka Karya Tirta Batam

GLS received its first project in one of the National Petroleum Company, PERTAMINA, subsidiary. The project is to revitalize existing Water Treatement Plant (WTP) of 5500 M3/Day (CMD) capacity in Peteka Karya Tirta (subsidiary of Pertamina Trans Kontinental) in Batam). Peteka Karya Tirta operates the WTP and sell clean water to some oleochemicals industries. GLS revitalize their WTP system, upgrade the components and support Peteka Karya Tirta in their water supply business.

The Bandha

GLS is constructing another Water Treatment Plant on this  beautiful boutique Hotel in the heart of Bali lifestyle area in Seminyak. The Hotel is located right by the seaside in Seminyak, this gorgeous property in facilitating its guests in their 90 rooms and suites.

The problem facing by The Bandha, the salinity of the water is increasing from time to time and there are some encrustations in water pipes. These issues causing an increase in general cost due to short lifetime of the equipment. The solution to these problems is to treat the feed water to improve the water quality.

The Bandha appointed GLS to installed Reverse Osmosis package to ensure the sustainability of water quality complied to the international standard. The installed package is using SS316 skid mounted system therefore it is easy to transport and highly durable.

This way the maintenance cost will decrease and hotel guests will enjoy high quality water during the vacation in this blissful resort.

Another Jewel in Nusa Dua

GLS yet to finalize another project in one of Nusa Dua jewels; The Vouk Hotel and Suites.
Located in the Hill between Nusa Dua and Sawangan, this 5 star accommodation offers full facility and top-notch service with facilities such as turquoise blue swimming pools for adults and kids, fully equipped gymnasium, Chakra Spa, and many more. With great facilities and gorgeous view of the Indian Ocean, The Vouk Hotel and Suites is a true jewel.

The Vouk appointed GLS to solve their problem in terms of the high level of hardness in the water. The solution to this problem is to install RO water treatment plant to improve water quality. GLS support the property with installing 100 CMD (M3/Day) RO system for drinking water supply, so guests can enjoy high quality water in the premises.

High Selective Filter Media

The performance of SWRO system is largely determined by the quality of the pretreatment process. Improper pretreatment process can have an impact on decreasing performance caused by the fouling tendency on SWRO membrane surface. The following case is one of the cases of underperforming pretreatment that causes decreased  SWRO system lifetime.

From the documentation above, it can be seen that the media filter (silica sand) turned black because of the contaminants. The filtration media was not able to filter contaminants, so the contaminant reached the cartridge filters, it can be seen from the cartridge filters that turned black. In normal operation, the cartridge filter is replaced every 1-1.5 months. But due to the contaminants has reached cartridge filter, it must be replaced every 2-3 days. The cartridge filter also unable to filter these contaminants, and the ultimate result the black contaminants polluted the membrane. Therefore, it causes membranes blocked.

This issue really affected the operation of the SWRO system, causes low flow of product, high maintenance activity, and high consumable requirement. By replacing the existing media filter to HSFM, the filtration process is able to clear up the black contaminants.

Starting in the beginning of 2019, GLS introduced another breakthrough technology to replace conventional Sand Filter. In the long run sand filter create a habitat for bacteria to reside. Using activated glass, HSFM is more effectively eliminate biofouling, improves biosecurity, and stops channelling. The benefit of using HSFM are longer lifetime and less frequency of cleaning. The service life of HSFM is over 10 years.

GLS has applied this new technology to one of its sites that has most difficult impurity. After application, the water quality is greatly improved. Not only bring the production to a higher rate, but reduce operation cost significantly.
